This is killing your authority...

I’m sat here writing this email from my parents house. I’ve come home for the weekend to remove myself from the hustle and bustle of London.

I cannot tell you how nice it is to be woken up by the birds instead of a fire engine or d*ckhead on a motorbike.

But I digress.

The topic I want to talk to you is a trap that many people online fall into.

Especially new creators, who are just starting posting.

What’s the trap?

People don’t like to talk about themselves.

And it’s a problem that’s spread by many other creators, because they talk about how you should use the word “YOU” when addressing your audience.

So people push out how to content.

And focus on using as much “YOU” language as possible.

And it’s a trap I fell into myself, because I used to think “why would anyone want to know about me.”

But the reason it’s an issue is that it doesn’t build your authority.

If you keep on pumping out posts that show your audience how to do something, it’s great, but you just become a glorified search engine.

You’re just a new place to store information.

But people are following you for you, they need to know who YOU are.

So you need share more stories about yourself and more proof you can do what you’re preaching.

But that’s all today.

Talk soon,

Jack
